The U.S. Association of Blind Athletes is pleased to partner with the Cornea Research Foundation of America to promote the book Celebration of Light, written by Dr. Francis Price, Jr., M.D. and CEO of the Price Vision Group and President of the Cornea Research Foundation of America. Celebration of Light is an inspirational and informative collection of stories of people who were blind and visually impaired and overcame their vision challenges.
"Dr. Price wanted to find a way to reassure, inform, inspire and empower his patients who were considering surgery on their eyes including USABA athlete Trischa Zorn, the most decorated Paralympic athlete in the history of disabled sport," said Mark Lucas, USABA Executive Director. "What better way to do that than to offer a collection of stories of people, told in their own words, who have already undergone surgery? Each of the unique stories resonates with the authenticity of the storyteller, bringing hope, humor and encouragement to readers," said Lucas.
The book is divided into sections featuring the most common eye disorders including Fuchs' Dystrophy and keratoconus, as well as some unusual ones such as iris implants. It is also available in a CD format for those unable to read the printed version. The CD version contains 4 CDs in a set and is available for purchase through the Foundation by contacting the author, Elaine Voci. It will also be available on www.cdbaby.net in September, 2006.
The $20 book is published by Authorhouse in Bloomington, IN. and is available at www.authorhouse.com or by phone at 1-888-519-5121. All proceeds go to the Cornea Research Foundation of America.
