Requests for 2008 Sports Education Camp Proposals

 

The U.S. Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) is pleased to announce that we are accepting funding proposals for 2008 Sports Education Camp Projects (SECs).

In 2008, USABA also is offering a one time Gordon and Llura Gund Athlete scholarship to the top 5 athletes from each respective SEC.

•  Grant amounts for each qualifying SEC range up to $1,000.

•  Gordon and Llura Gund Athlete schalorships awards will be sent to each athlete recipient in the amount of $100 for each of the top 5 athletes from each SEC.

SEC REQUIREMENTS; applicants must submit a proposal which includes the following:

•  Dates and location of 2008 SEC.

•  An outline of SEC program, including tentative schedule, sports included,etc.

•  The anticipated number of participants, including age range.

•  Amount of support requested.

SEC ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Upon receipt of funding, SECs will receive a contract including, but not limited to, the following:

•  All SEC athletes and major staff/coaches must be current USABA members.

•  Site directors must submit after-action reports, A minimum of 15 athlete photos and 2-3 success stories to USABA within 30 days of the camp completion of the camp.

•  All paid and volunteer SEC staff must sign the USABA child abuse policy.

DEADLINE : All applications MUST BE RECEIVED BY April 14, 2008.

NOTIFICATION : Award recipients will be notified by April 21, 2008.

GORDON AND LLURA GUND ATHLETE GRANT REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION

•  SEC site directors must submit to USABA the Gordon and Llura Gund Athlete Grant application 3 weeks after the conclusion of the camp.

•  To be considered, each athlete must demonstrate that they will actively train and compete in their choosen sport in their local community throughout the year.

•  Each recipient will be required to submit the Athlete Progress Report Form by October 1, 2008.

•  USABA will provide each athlete recipient a check for $100 upon satisfactory completion of the Athlete Progress Report Form no later than Nov. 15, 2008.

The United States Association of Blind Athletes, a member organization of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is a non-profit organization that provides training for blind and visually impaired athletes for competition in nine sports. USABA members range from blind children developing sports skills to elite athletes who train for competitions such as the Paralympic Games, which continually draws more than 4,000 disabled athletes.
