Cobb Appointed USABA National Track and Field Coordinator

(Colorado Springs, Colo) - The United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Cobb (St. Louis, Missouri.) as the USABA National Track and Field Coordinator. Cobb?s role will include identifying and developing emerging athletes as well as assisting them in furthering their athletic goals.

Cobb is a physical education instructor and multi-sport coach at the Missouri School for the Blind. Cobb has been teaching and coaching at the Missouri School for the Blind for five years, where he coaches track and field, goalball, and wrestling. Several of Cobb?s track and field athletes will be competing this summer at the 2007 International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) World Youth and Student Games, the IBSA World Championships and the U.S. Paralympics National Track & Field Championships.

?We are excited for Tim to join our team at USABA,? said John Potts, USABA Director of Sports Development. ?Tim?s tremendous enthusiasm and leadership for track and field and delivering sports for people who blind and visually impaired are tremendous assets to building our program and infrastructure, said Potts.

The United States Association of Blind Athletes, a member organization of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is a non-profit organization that provides training for blind and visually impaired athletes for competition in nine sports. USABA members range from blind children developing sports skills to elite athletes who train for competitions such as the Paralympic Games, which continually draws more than 4,000 disabled athletes.
