Bowling results from Australia have arrived
The results of the third world Tenpin Bowling Championships recently held in Mc Arthur, New South Wales, Australia, are in and Team USA made a name for itself on a worldwide scale!
Here are the results:
Marie Van Liere (Newport News, VA) earned Team USA 's first gold medal. She captured gold in the B2 women's scratch event. After her first victory, she proceeded to take the silver medal in the women's handicap event.
Following Van Liere's strong lead, Melody Heath (Greensboro , NC) earned bronze medal in the B1 women's handicap event.
As for the men, two from Team USA earned medals and recognition in the B1 male scratch event. Jack Lenk
(St. Louis, MO) took home a silver medal and Gar Giddings (Ramsey, MN) brought home the bronze with a solid third place finish.
In the three-person team event, the trio of Van Liere, Lenk and Jim Fleming (Roanoke, VA) won a bronze medal for taking third place in the handicap division. In the four-person team event, the same trio (Van Liere, Lenk and Fleming) with the addition of team member Herbert Everett ( Raleigh , NC ) captured the bronze medal for a top-ranked finish in the handicap division.

The United States Association of Blind Athletes, a member organization of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is a non-profit organization that provides training for blind and visually impaired athletes for competition in nine sports. USABA members range from blind children developing sports skills to elite athletes who train for competitions such as the Paralympic Games, which continually draws more than 4,000 disabled athletes.
