USA to Host IBSA World Benchpress and Powerlifting Championships
(Colorado Springs, CO) The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) recently selected USABA and the City of Miami, FL as hosts for the 2008 IBSA World Benchpress and Powerlifting Championships.
According to the Competition Director, Robert Keller, "We are very excited about hosting this championships." Keller points out every facet of this competition is international caliber: "From the weights and racks to the computerized barload and scoring systems that were selected for the utmost in safety and accuracy, nothing was scrificed in order to provide competitors and spectators with the ultimate powerlifting experience."
Additionally, Miami will provide participants a setting that includes great weather, beautiful beaches and numerous entertainment options--just the right combination to make this a can't-miss competitive event!

USABA athletes will compete in the Emerging Athletes Camp at the 2008 State Games, an inaugural event that hosts up to 8,000 blind and sighted athletes in 29 sports. The games will be held from July 22 – 29 in Colorado Springs , Colo. For more information, please visit USABA's website at www.usaba.org .
The United States Association of Blind Athletes, a member organization of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is a non-profit organization that provides training for blind and visually impaired athletes for competition in nine sports. USABA members range from blind children developing sports skills to elite athletes who train for competitions such as the Paralympic Games, which continually draws more than 4,000 disabled athletes.
