The United States Association of Blind Athletes is pleased to announce that Georgia Blind Sports Association (GBSA) and the City of Atlanta, Georgia will partner to host the 2015 USABA Goalball National Championships.
“We are truly excited about the partnership between Georgia Association of Blind Athletes and the City of Atlanta,” said John Potts, USABA Goalball Program Manager. “GBSA is a young organization already doing great things for athletes. Their partnership with the City of Atlanta, an experienced host city and great destination, is a win-win situation for this tournament.”
Founded in 2011, Georgia Blind Sports Association serves as an advocate for youth and adult athletes who are blind and visually impaired. On top of physical fitness activities offered, GBSA currently participates in three competitive sports.
“We are thrilled about the opportunity to host the 2015 USABA Goalball National Championships,” said Hal Simpson, Executive Director of Georgia Association of Blind Athletes. “Hosting this event in a community with the passion and ability to hold world-class competitions will be the crown jewel of the 2015 National Goalball Season.”
The City of Atlanta, Georgia is famous for hosting the 1996 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as many other sporting events. It is an exceptional metropolis area to host the National Goalball Championships.
The tournament is planned for June 2015. Additional tournament information will be posted through the USABA website (http://www.usaba.org) and provided to USABA members via email.
