Earlier this week, Team USABA returned home from the 2012 IBSA World Benchpress and Powerlifting Championships with a few extra souvenirs in their bags– 5 Gold medals, 8 Silver medals and 8 Bronze medals for their accomplishments at the 2012 IBSA World Benchpress and Powerlifting Championships (and Pan-American Regional Championships) held July 4-7 in Orlando, Florida.

This team, a mix of veteran lifters and young talent performed as a well-oiled machine, making their presence known in the IBSA international powerlifting community.  The women, all first-time competitors on international stage finished strong, earning women a 4th place overall finish in the World competition and a 2d place overall finish in the Pan-American regional competition.  The men also showed their might, garnering a 5th place overall finish in the World competition and finishing 3d in the Pan-American regional competition.

Additionally, 62 year old lifter Charles King (Philadelphia, PA) set three new age group world records for his weight category in the Benchpress (281 lbs), Deadlift (407 lbs), and Squat (264 lbs).
