Hotlanta Blazers, Manticores Capture Gold at Goalball Nationals

SMYRNA, Ga. (May 26, 2019) – A record 25 teams from across the nation convened in Smyrna, Georgia, over Memorial Day weekend for the 2019 USABA Goalball National Championships. The event featured three exciting days of action at the Smyrna Community Center and was sponsored by The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. Countries Announced for Goalball Competition at 2019 IBSA Qualifier in Fort Wayne

Colorado Springs, Colo. (May 13, 2019) – The 27 goalball teams vying to secure a place in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games at this summer’s International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) International Qualifier in Fort Wayne, Indiana, have been finalized. The announcement comes with 50 days remaining before the July 2-9 competition at Turnstone Center and Indiana Tech. The 27 teams include 14 men’s and 13 women’s squads. Day in the Life: Cody Carmicle – Goalball

Cody Carmicle (Lafayette, Ind.) is a resident athlete at the Goalball Center of Excellence at Turnstone in Fort Wayne. Carmicle first learned about the sport of goalball from a teacher in high school. He was introduced to the U.S. Men’s Goalball Team when Coach Boyle and some of the players visited his school to do a demonstration. Since discovering the sport, he’s represented Team USA at three international tournaments on the U.S. Men’s Goalball Team in 2018 – Malmo Intercup in Sweden,  the International Trakai Goalball Tournament in Lithuania and the International Goalball Challenge in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
