Chaz Davis, Alison Lynch Capture Marathon National Titles

The 12th United States Association of Blind Athletes Marathon National Championships presented by Allworth Financial took place on Sunday, December 5, in Sacramento, Calif., in conjunction with the California International Marathon. The race featured 41 runners who are blind and visually impaired, along with 64 guide runners helping them navigate the course either for the full 26.2-mile distance or on relay teams. Cody Carmicle, Goalball Alternate for Team USA This Summer, Dies of Cancer

by Chros McDougall, TeamUSA.org Dakota Ray Carmicle, better known to U.S. goalball teammates and fans as Cody Carmicle, died October 28, just weeks after serving as an alternate to Team USA at the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. He was 26. A native of Lafayette, Indiana, Carmicle discovered the sport for visually impaired athletes in high school and eventually became a resident athlete at the Goalball Center of Excellence at Turnstone in Fort Wayne, Indiana. USABA Building Blind Soccer Ahead of LA28

Tokyo Paralympians Win 16 Medals in Visually Impaired Categories

At the recently-concluded Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Team USA competed in a total of 241 events across 19 sport disciplines. The U.S. won a total of 37 gold, 36 silver and 31 bronze medals, and 129 athletes came home with hardware. This year's team consisted of 242 athletes, including 37 with visual impairments and six guides. In sports and categories for athletes with visual impairments, Team USA captured 16 medals, including four gold, seven silver and five bronze.
