U.S. Men’s and Women’s Goalball Teams Compete at Worlds June 3-8


U.S. Men’s and Women’s Goalball Teams will compete in their first chance at qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games next week at the 2018 IBSA Goalball World Championships in Malmö, Sweden. The U.S. Women are defending champions and have earned medals at eight World Championships since their debut at the 1982 World Championships in Indianapolis where they won gold. The U.S. Men have five World Championship podium finishes, including a bronze medal from the 2014 World Championships, and are hoping to add another to their collection. U.S. Men’s and Women’s Goalball Teams Announced for 2018 World Championships


U.S. Goalball Head Coaches have named the teams that will represent Team USA at the 2018 IBSA Goalball World Championships to be held in Malmö, Sweden June 3-8, 2018. The tournament will serve as Team USA’s first opportunity to qualify its men’s and women’s goalball teams for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. In 2014, both U.S. Men and Women earned places on the podium (Women: 1st, Men: 3rd) to qualify to compete at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. 2018 Midwest Regional Goalball Tournament Recap

The 34th annual USABA Midwest Regional Goalball Tournament hosted 28 teams this weekend in Warren, Michigan. As one of the largest goalball tournaments in North America, it’s a staple in the USABA Regionals line up each year. Split into three divisions – Men’s, Women’s and Men’s Elite – the teams took the courts starting Friday afternoon. Round Robin play continued Saturday and concluded with finals on Sunday morning. Men’s Division Columbus Chill, GLASA Riptide, NIU Huskies and NJ Thunder emerged to compete in the Men’s semi-finals. Goalball Couple’s Support Impacts Performance On and Off the Court

For two elite goalball players, the goalball court means more than the place they found their sport – it’s where they found each other. Rio 2016 Paralympic medalist Marybai Huking and 2017 Youth World Champion Josh Welborn met at the USABA Youth Goalball National Championships in 2010. 2018 Cascade Classic Tournament Recap


Eleven teams competed at the 2018 Cascade Classic Goalball tournament this weekend which served as USABA’s first regional tournament of the year. Gold in the Women’s division went to the Rose City Thorns,  second to a pool team combination players from each side of the USA/Canadian border and Arizona Sting finished third. On the men’s side, BC won their sixth Cascade Classic title in eight years defeating Alberta, 4-2 in the finals.  BC2 defeated a Pool team (Joey and the Vets) for bronze.  Three new teams, Omaha Mavericks, Tacoma Typhoon and the Seattle King Cobras, made their division two debut…  Read More
